Crystal Chandeliers Types And Uses

Coming from the word "candelbrum", the Latin word for candela (candle), chandeliers are light fixtures hung on the ceiling with more than two branches or arms bearing lights or lamps. Chandeliers are composed of crystal prisms. Back in the medieval era, chandeliers were first used. During those days, a chandelier is made up of spikes and candles. Ropes and hook make it possible for the cross to look suspended in the ceiling. During the 15th century, chandeliers came in different shapes and figures. In the 15th century, chandeliers determine the status symbol in the society. The 18th century saw the creation of crystal chandeliers. The production of the lead crystal during this era led to its development.

As a light fixture, its sole purpose is to light up an area. A chandelier has three types according to the caliber of light it gives out: diffused lighting, ambient lighting, and accent lighting. Diffused lights are perfect for those who do not want too bright lights. Light emitted by diffused lights will bounce of ceilings and walls. But if you're planning to emphasize certain areas of a room only, you can use accent lighting. Down lights, pendant lights, and spotlights are different kinds of accent lights. Often, it is suited for low ceilings and even cabinets which can illumine a small area. Accent lighting mostly consist contemporary chandeliers.

Those who find too much glare of light uncomfortable may prefer diffused lighting. To achieve diffused lighting, opt for up lights. Up lights will not produce glare. There are glass or iron chandeliers with shades that filters the light. Some designs of contemporary chandeliers have this feature.

You should use ambient lighting if you want to light up a huge space. Ambient lights make up large chandeliers on ceilings. It can light up a large space because the source of light comes from different directions, with directional and positional lighting. A Pendant chandelier uses ambient lighting. This type of light fixture is hung on the ceiling, like a necklace pendant. It can be installed at the ceiling through metal chains or rods.

Why put a chandelier in your house? It is because it adds glow to the entire house. Try to imagine a house without a light. These can brighten up a whole house. It makes your house more glamorous and sophisticated. Crystal chandeliers are considered as best buy pieces. Crystals are one of the most attractive kinds of stone. Even simple crystal designs can look elegant no matter where you decide to install it.

Chandeliers are not just mere lighting fixtures but can also bring instant elegance and sophistication in an ordinary house. There is a wide array of chandeliers to choose from. If you would like to go for a simple one, try a pendant chandelier. If you're the type who is not much into vintage or classic, you can go for contemporary chandeliers. Lastly, if you're the type who would like to personify glam in your house, pick from crystal chandeliers.
