Some of the Common Ways on How to Treat a Yeast Infection

Yeast infection can be treated in many different ways.  Such methods and ways of treatment would largely depend on the size of the infected area.  Yeast infection that affects the vagina, penis or even the mouth can effectively be treated with anti fungal creams.  Medication for yeast infection are thus numerous.
As per the advice of a doctor a small amount of anti fungal cream should be applied directly to the infected area.  This should be done at least two or three times daily or until there is a marked improvement.  The frequency of the application can be lessened depending on the improvement that is being observed.
The use of suppositories as well as tablets is another way on how to cure a yeast infection.  These are taken internally and for several days at that until improvement is observed.  Tablets contain antibiotics that can mix with the bloodstream.
Meanwhile, suppositories are especially utilized when yeast infections occurs in the vagina.  Suppositories are inserted inside the vagina.  The doctor should be consulted first on any other instructions that he or she might dispense.
For yeast infection of the mouth, doctors would usually prescribe mild oral mouthwash.  Oral mouthwash are effective in loosening the hard secretions that might have developed because of the infection.  This can also be an effective way to promote overall relief from the pains and discomfort of the infection.
Severe cases of yeast infections or candidiasis are sometimes treated with the use of intravenous medications.  The medicine is injected directly to the bloodstream.  How to treat a yeast infection using intravenous medications is especially done if the yeast infection affects the throat, the digestive system or also when it affects the mouth.
But, as they say prevention is better than the cure.  Below are some ways on how to avoid the contracting of yeast infection by a person.
Always wear cotton underwear.  Cotton underwear have the ability to make the body cool and thus freeing it from moisture and sweat.  Cottons compared with the other textiles or fabrics allows the body to breathe.
Cottons unlike nylon fibers traps the heat inside making the body warm and moist.  This warm and moist condition is essential in the growth of the fungus in the genital area.
As much as possible avoid having sexual intercourse with people who are infected with yeast infections.  Yeast infections can easily be transmitted to another person.  If sex is unavoidable try to use condoms as condoms are an effective way to prevent many sexually transmitted diseases.
Birth control pills and some oral contraceptives are also known to disrupt the normal flora of the vagina.  This disruption can cause the number of fungus to proliferate uncontrollably.  Birth control pills and oral contraceptives can kill bacteria that are natural in keeping the population of the fungus in check.  Ask your doctor especially if you suspect this kind of a trigger.  The doctor can change the brand of the oral contraceptive or birth control pill.
Avoid using feminine hygiene wash too often.  Feminine hygiene wash are also effective in killing the bacteria that keeps in check the fungus that cause yeast infection.
The other thing a person can do is to maintain overall hygiene when it comes to taking care of his or her own body.  Always keep your skin dry because warm and moist skin is the perfect breeding ground for the fungus that causes yeast infection.
Following the above simple and common method is the best way on how to cure a yeast infection.  Yeast infection is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease.  Yet we do not need to have medication for yeast infection only if we are following basic hygiene.
Living right and eating the right food can keep a person healthy and less vulnerable to the ravages of illnesses and diseases.  Learn to respect our bodies and our bodies would also respond in the same manner.
