Medication For Yeast Infection Should Eliminate The Root Cause
You have been feeling dizzy for quite some time. You noticed that you could not remember things properly. You also noticed that you have developed a craving for sweet food, which is quite unnatural. Soon you started feeling fatigued easily. Right then you did not know that these are all symptoms of yeast infection, medically termed candidiasis and only a yeast infection treatment could cure you.
We all know that yeast infection, which is medically known as candidiasis causes red patches on body parts that are warm and moist. The red patches soon start itching and if not cured, the itching is replaced by a burning sensation. Soon the red patch is covered by white scalloped edged rash. However, yeast infection can also cause,
1. memory loss for short term
2. concentration problem
3. dizzy feeling
4. fatigue with muscle weakness
5. craving for food in general, especially sweet food
6. digestion problem / stomach pain
7. bloating
8. irregularity in heart beat
9. joint pain
10. sexual dysfunction
Not all these symptoms mean that you have yeast infection. However, if you have some of them, you can check if you have candidiasis.
Treating yeast infections becomes easy once you understand the root cause of the infection. Yeasts of candida variety are parasites that live on the surface of our skin. It is kept in control by our body’s immune system. However, when that immune system is weakened, the candidas start multiplying and manifest as rashes in places that are conductive to its growth. It is well known factor that fungus grow well on places that is warm and moist. Yeasts, being a fungus grow well in places like vagina, under the foreskin of penis, places around the genital area etc.
Candidiasis of the vagina or vulva is known as candidal valvovaginitis. It may cause severe itching, burning, soreness, irritation and a whitish or whitish grey cottage cheese like discharge. This often has a curd like appearance. These symptoms are also present in bacterial vaginosis, which is more common than candidal valvovaginitis. A study, undertaken in 2002 shows that only 33% of all those who have been treating yeast infection in the vagina without under going any proper diagnosis, is actually suffering from it. A vast majority of them actually have bacterial vaginosis or some other infection.
Inside the mouth is also a good place to grow such candidiasis. Oral candidiasis is known as oral thrush, which is a very common infection among babies and senior citizens. It generally appears as thick white or cream-colored deposit on the mucosal membrane inside the mouth. The infected mucosa may appear reddish and sometimes slightly raised. Because of increasing intake of antibiotics and other medicine by the pregnant women, thrush has become prevalent among newborn babies. Diaper rash that do not go away with ordinary diaper rash medicines is also a manifestation of candidiasis.
Other than these, one can have candidiasis in the folds of skin, where it is moist and warm. There is plenty of medication for yeast infection. Apart from standard allopathic medicines, there are alternative medicines as well. There are antifungal tablets, which you will have to take orally. Other than that, you have antifungal creams and lotions to be applied locally. Again, there are prescription drugs as well as over- the- counter drugs. If you will search the net, you will find e-books that promise to show you how to cure candidiasis once for all. Some times, you will get confused by claims and counter claims.
If this is your first yeast infection, you can treat yourself with over-the–counter medicines. However, if the infection does not improve in a week or so, it is better to have it checked and diagnosed by a specialist. Candidiasis is irritating and painful, but it is harmless as long as it remains on the surface of the skin. The moment it turns inward to penetrate the skin through some break down or cut, it become fatal.
If by any chance, your immune system is less strong, you should not take any chance, but go straight to the doctor for proper diagnosis. The doctor may have to take just a quick look to diagnose if your infection is candidiasis or not. Alternately, he may take a scrapping and put it under microscope with a drop of 10% potassium hydroxide solution. The chemical dissolves the skin, but keeps the candida intact for visual inspection. If he is still not sure, he may go for culturing of the specimen collected. This will take a few days.
Start yeast infection treatment before it is too late. The right medication for yeast infection should not only relieve you of your discomfort, but should cure the root cause. Or else the infection will keep on reappearing.
