Yeast Infection Relief – The Solutions That Work!
You will never forget a yeast infection experience. No matter which part of the body it appears on, yeast infections are annoying, inconvenient and downright uncomfortable – especially on the more sensitive parts of the body like the genital area and in the mouth.
How did these infections appear? Strangely enough, yeast infection is caused by the same yeast flora that exists within our body system. Usually, they are in perfect balance and when in this state, work as additional armor for our immune system. Unfortunately, this balance can be thrown off when certain conditions exist – like the use of harsh cleaning soaps or detergent which causes an allergic reaction on the skin, or a drop in hygienic habits like when you go camping and the presence of clean, fresh water for bathing is not easily accessible.
Yeast infections also thrive on moist, dark environments. When you are rushing about and do not clean up or dry up properly, you give the yeast a chance to multiply, which is why some people get these infections when they are at highly stressful times in their lives like when sitting for exams or working on projects and launches.
Naturally, the sooner you find some yeast infection relief (sometimes, even a temporary one will do!), the better and easier it will be for you to get back to some normal living. Yeast infections are burning and itchy, to say the very least, and for some people, may sting painfully.
Good news for yeast infection sufferers, though. Today, you can find an effective home remedy for yeast infection quite easily. These are pretty good at offering some respite from the burning sensations, with some working better on specific body parts than others.
For effective yeast infection relief, washing or rinsing the affected area with a mild medical disinfectant works wonders. To make your own washing disinfectant, add a dash of vinegar into water (the amount depends on your usage of the water) and use that to rinse or wash. This is very effective and provides instant relief for those suffering from genital yeast infections, and is safe enough to dab onto a baby’s diaper area too. They do not, however, provide long-term cures for yeast infection and will need to be done as often as is needed.
Sometimes, there will be no other alternative but to resort to yeast infection medications. For these, make sure you consult a licensed pharmacist or doctor before trying on any over-the-counter products. Be warned, however, that some of these medications may be harsh on your skin so make sure you try the mildest versions before you move on to stronger medication.
For more permanent yeast infection relief, use any one of these:
1. Garlic – this is yeast’s public enemy No. 1. Taking in garlic in tablet, liquid or its natural form is one of the best natural ways to keep yeast infections at bay. If you have a vaginal yeast infection, the quickest way to get relief is to insert the garlic tablet into the vagina. You may also use one garlic clove.
This will give you your much-needed soothing relief from the itching and burning sensation. Keep doing this as often as you need to and you will soon find the yeast infection reducing in its intensity.
2. Yogurt – this is another good alternative. Make sure the yogurt is unsweetened and unflavored as the sugars in flavored versions will aggravate the yeast infection even more. Rub yogurt onto the affected spots and leave it for a while to work its magic.
Using yogurt will mean you have to be a little bit more vigilant, though. Wipe off the yogurt thoroughly the moment you feel the stinging sensations have ebbed as there is a danger of making the yeast infection worse if it is left on for too long.
3. Herbs – drinking basil, rosemary, thyme or oregano that is diluted in water (almost like a tea) has also proven to be pretty good at ridding the body of excessive yeast colonies. If you are prone to recurring yeast infections, it may be a good idea to grow them yourself. In any case, they look pretty good in the garden or on your window sill!
4. Saltwater – naturally, not recommended for genital yeast infections but is a popular home remedy for yeast infection in the mouth. As oral yeast infections can also be caused by an overly dry mouth, the saltwater doubles up as a saliva-inducer.
5. Yeast infection medications – creams, solutions or suppositories, these range from mild concoctions to stronger, topical applications. Unfortunately, they tend to work for a short period of time only. In addition, they do not prevent recurring infections.
