The Best Way to Cure Yeast Infections

Many women experience the discomfort and the unpleasant feeling caused by being infected with yeast infection.  Statistics reveal that almost 75% of women have experienced being infected with yeast infection once in their lifetime.  And almost 50% of women have experienced multiple yeast infections.  These are the recurrent ones that keeps on coming back.

The common symptoms of a yeast infection can include itching and redness in and around the vagina, rashes, soreness, itching, and a feeling of a burning sensation whenever one is urinating.  Another common symptom is the whitish discharge that may be present in the sore which is usually odorless.

If one or all of these symptoms are present it is better to see your physicians.  Yeast infection cures can easily be prescribed and the sooner it is identified, the better.  Serious complications are thus prevented.

Candida albicans is the main reason why people have yeast infections.  This fungus is a natural resident of our body.  Together with several bacteria they thrive in a controlled number especially in the vagina.  The natural acidic flora of the vagina makes both bacteria and fungus growth always kept in check.

However, when conditions allow the uncontrolled growth of the candida albicans fungus it can thus create symptoms of a yeast infection.  This can happen whenever the natural check and balance provided by the population of bacteria becomes disturbed.  When the number of bacteria gradually decreases the reverse can happen to the fungus, they gradually increase in numbers.  When this happen the cure yeast infections should be done immediately.

There are several ways in which the bacterial population can be affected and these include the taking of antibiotics.  Antibiotics can definitely kill the bacteria because of its germicidal effect.  Once the bacteria are killed the growth of the fungus becomes uncontrolled leading to the symptoms of yeast infections.

Another way for the fungus to thrive is thru menstruation.  Menstruation changes the acidity and the normal flora of the vagina.  This abnormal situation can be beneficial for the fungus to grow uncontrollably.  The use of contraceptives or birth control pills is also likely to allow the growth of the fungus in the vagina.

The other way in which a person can develop symptoms of yeast infection is thru the use of steroids.  Pregnancy and hormonal changes will most often lead to symptoms of yeast infections too.  Because of the altered acidity of the vagina, the fungus can thrive uncontrollably too in there.  This condition will definitely call for yeast infection cures.

The use of nylon textile or underwear can also lead to yeast infection.  Nylon generally does not allow the body to “breathe” and the lack of air makes the skin warm and moist.  This condition is also suitable for the propagation of the candida albicans to thrive.

And lastly, people with weakened immune system are also likely candidates for yeast infections.

This could include yeast infection of the mouth where a white and creamy patches appears on the tongue, throat or at the side of the mouth.

What then are the common ways to prevent yeast infections from happening or what then are the common yeast infection medication available today.

One such common advice is to refrain from wearing nylon clothing especially for the undergarments or underwear.  Instead use fabrics that are made from cotton or clothing that has a natural-fiber in it.  This will allow your skin to “breathe” and can make you comfortable even on warm days.

It is also advised to refrain from wearing tight clothing like panty hose, leggings and a very tight pair of jeans.

For people who are sexually active and engages in multiple partners it is best to wear latex condoms for protection.  Condoms are a great way to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS, genital warts, gonorrhea and yeast infection.

Use feminine wash and spray sparingly.  The constant use of these feminine products can unbalance the natural flora and acidity of the vagina.  With the decrease in the number of bacteria, the fungus may be given the breathing room in needs to grow at a faster rate thus causing symptoms of yeast infections.

However, before doing all these things it is always good counsel to check first with your doctor.  He or she is the best person to suggest on how to best cure yeast infections.
