Common Medication for Yeast Infection

Yeast infections can affect the vagina, mouth, skin, nails or the mucous membranes found throughout the body.  In normal situations the human body tolerates the existence of both bacteria and fungus.  Such relationship is beneficial to the body as it acts as a check and balance so that neither of the two (bacteria or fungus) can dominate in terms of population.

When a person is infected with yeast infection it just means that the number of fungus is more numerous than the number of bacteria.  In this instance, and if it infects the vagina symptoms like itching, redness, and the appearance of thick and odorless discharge can be observed and felt in the vagina.  With this, treating yeast infections are quite necessary.

Vaginal yeast infection is common and tends to recur frequently.  This fungal infection can cause discomfort during ordinary urination and most especially can cause discomfort during sexual intercourse.  This can be an obstacle in attaining sexual pleasure for both males and the females.

Yet, there are several ways in treating yeast infections.  These include medications prescribed by your physician as well as medications obtained thru word of mouth like the so-called natural medications.  Either way, many people claim that they have been cured of the symptoms of yeast infections by these methods.

Yeast infections treatment prescribed by your doctor includes antifungal creams, suppositories or tablets.  The antifungal cream treatments are best prescribed to treat yeast infections occurring in the vagina, penis or near the mouth.  The cream is just applied over the area where the infection occurs.  In a couple of days it is expected that the situation would improve.

Meanwhile suppositories and tablets are also used in treating yeast infections and these are taken internally.  Suppositories are either inserted in the vagina or in the anus.  While tablets are taken orally letting the anti-fungal medication circulates in the blood.  These are used in treating yeast infections of the skin, nails and of the mucous membranes.

Having to consult your doctor and having him prescribe the best medication for yeast infection suited for you is a wise move.  Medical doctors are trained on what specific type of medication is suitable for you taking into consideration your health condition as well as your lifestyle and your tolerance level for a specific medication.

For the natural medications in yeast infections treatment, there are also several ways available today.  The use of yogurt and tampons is one such medication.  People claim that this is an effective way to treat the fungal infection or yeast infection efficiently and cheaply.

The process requires you to dip the tampon in the yogurt.  Once the tampon is completely covered with yogurt, the tampon can now be inserted inside the vagina.  It is said that you have to allocate a minimum of one hour each day for this method to be effective.

The reason behind this form of yeast infections treatment is rather simple.  The yogurt is used as a medium to physically transplant the “good bacteria” back in your system.  With the increased number of good bacteria they can now neutralize the growth of the fungus.  Making the symptoms of yeast infection disappear.  However, it is also said that it takes several sessions before conditions can improve.

The next natural remedy in treating yeast infections is thru the use of apple cider vinegar.  Mix the apple cider vinegar with a quart of water and use the solution as a douching fluid to clean the vagina.  In this way, the solution acts as an anti-fungal solution, cleaning the body of the fungus which cause yeast infection.

With the available medication for yeast infection today, treating the symptoms are quite easy and relief can be expected in just a matter of days.  Yet again, before any self-medication is started it is always best to consult your doctor for any specific instructions.  The saying, “it is better to be safe than sorry” should always be considered.
